I Went To Abraham Hicks

In the world of wellness and manifestation, it’s nearly impossible not to have heard of Abraham Hicks. They’re some of the original architects of the Law of Attraction movement, a concept that’s made its way into books, films, and even Oprah’s couch conversations. But who—or what—is Abraham Hicks, exactly? Here’s the short version: Abraham is a collective consciousness channeled by Esther Hicks, with the support of her late husband, Jerry. Together, they’ve spent decades teaching people how to align with their desires, trust the universe, and create lives full of joy and abundance. Think of them as the OG guides to manifesting the life you truly want.

When I saw that an Abraham Hicks workshop was coming to Miami, I couldn’t resist. I’d been curious about the process for years. Part of me thought, “If nothing else, I’ll leave with a story about a woman channeling what might as well be aliens. Who doesn’t want that?” But what I experienced was nothing short of life-changing. By the end of the day, I wasn’t just curious—I was hooked. This workshop is now on my annual to-do list, and the lessons I learned keep reshaping the way I approach everything in life.

Here are some of the most profound takeaways that continue to give me life, long after the workshop ended.

  1. You Are Not Here to Do What You “Need” to Do. You Are Here to Create What You “Want” to Create.

Abraham teaches that our primary purpose on Earth isn’t to struggle or fulfill obligations that drain us. Instead, we are creators, here to joyfully explore and expand. When you’re stuck in the mindset of “need to,” you’re focusing on resistance and lack. By shifting your focus to what you truly want, you align with your highest potential. This teaching emphasized that life doesn’t have to be hard work; instead, it can be a playful, creative process. For me, this meant letting go of guilt over what I thought I “should” be doing and leaning into what genuinely excites and energizes me.

2. Your Job Is to Focus and to Feel.

Abraham often says, “You are a vibrational being in a vibrational universe.” Your emotions are like a GPS system, guiding you toward alignment with your desires. The workshop highlighted the importance of tuning into your feelings and focusing on what brings you joy. Abraham’s term “awarenessing” means paying close attention to how different experiences, thoughts, and actions make you feel. If something feels good, it’s a sign you’re in alignment. If it doesn’t, it’s an opportunity to adjust your focus. I realized that by prioritizing how I feel and intentionally cultivating positive emotions, I’m better able to manifest what I want.

3. Trust You Can Have Whatever You Want. Nothing Is Off-Limits.

One of Abraham’s most empowering messages is that the universe is unlimited in its ability to provide. If you can dream it, you can have it—but only if you believe it. The key is to eliminate doubt and trust in your worthiness. Abraham often uses the metaphor of placing an order at a restaurant: once you order your meal, you don’t second-guess whether the kitchen will deliver it. You trust the process. This teaching helped me let go of limiting beliefs and embrace the idea that my desires are valid and achievable.

4. Look for Evidence of the Well-Being You Want to Continue Living.

Gratitude and appreciation are core components of Abraham’s teachings. They explain that what you focus on expands, so when you notice and celebrate the good in your life, you invite more of it in. During the workshop, Abraham encouraged us to look for “evidence” of well-being everywhere—from the beauty of a sunny day to the kindness of a stranger. This practice shifts your energy and keeps you in a high-vibration state. Since then, I’ve started a daily gratitude list, and the results have been transformative. It’s incredible how much abundance reveals itself when you start looking for it.

5. Ask for What You Want and Why You Want It.

Clarity is everything when it comes to manifesting, and Abraham emphasizes focusing on the essence of what you desire rather than the details. The why—the emotional payoff—is what matters most. For instance, if you’re asking for a new job, think about how that job will make you feel: empowered, inspired, secure? By focusing on the feelings rather than the logistics, you allow the universe to deliver in ways you might not have imagined. Abraham reminded us not to worry about the “when” or “how”—just ask, trust, and stay in alignment.

6. The Need to Explain Why You Want Something Adds Resistance.

Abraham often teaches that overexplaining or justifying your desires introduces resistance, because it draws attention to what you currently lack. For example, saying, “I want a partner because I’m tired of being lonely” focuses on loneliness rather than connection. A better approach is to simply state your desire in a way that feels joyful and abundant: “I desire a loving, fun, and supportive relationship.” This subtle shift in language—and mindset—makes all the difference. During the workshop, this clicked for me, and I started rephrasing my desires in ways that felt lighter and more aligned.

7. Your Life Is Constantly Giving You Signals Toward Your Joy.

Abraham’s metaphor of “warmer, warmer, warmer” stuck with me. Life constantly provides feedback, nudging you toward what feels good and aligned. When something excites or inspires you, it’s a sign you’re on the right track. When something feels off, it’s a cue to pivot. This teaching reframes challenges as valuable guidance rather than obstacles. Now, instead of resisting life’s detours, I embrace them as part of the journey toward my joy. It’s like playing a cosmic game of hot-and-cold, with joy as the ultimate prize.

Final Thoughts

Attending the Abraham Hicks workshop was an unforgettable experience. I walked out feeling incredible, like my vibration and frequency had been completely elevated. That afternoon, I went for a walk, and it felt as though the universe was winking at me. Dolphins were jumping out of the water, manatees were swimming by, and everything felt alive with possibility. It was as if the workshop had shifted my entire energy field—I got high on the vibration.

Of course, that high didn’t last forever. The real work lies in maintaining alignment with that frequency through daily practice. And that’s why this workshop is now on my list of annual events. It’s a chance to recalibrate, refocus, and reawaken to what’s possible. I
