She built it the slower way, through years of mastering her craft, earning trust one client at a time, and saying yes to opportunities long before there were any guarantees they would lead somewhere bigger.
After moving to Miami more than fifteen years ago, Fox worked multiple jobs while trying to establish herself as an aesthetician. A chance Craigslist job posting eventually led her to legendary dermatologist Dr. Fredric Brandt, where she spent years immersed in an environment defined by innovation, curiosity, and uncompromising excellence. When Brandt unexpectedly passed away in 2015, Fox found herself standing at a crossroads. She could remain in the safety of what she knew, or trust herself enough to begin building something of her own. She chose the latter.
Today, Flawless by Melissa Fox has become one of South Florida's premier skincare destinations, recognized for its highly customized, barrier-first philosophy and thoughtful approach to long-term skin health. Her work has earned multiple consecutive Allure Best of Beauty awards, attracted a devoted clientele, and established her reputation as one of the region's most trusted aestheticians. Yet speaking with Fox, it's clear that the business she's most proud of wasn't built on treatments or technology. What does a vibrant, aligned, and deeply fulfilling life look like to you now in this season of life?
A life where my family is healthy, my businesses are thriving, and I still have space to be present. Success used to mean achievement. Now it means peace, purpose, and loving what I get to do every day.
You’ve built a thriving business, cultivated deep expertise, and spent years helping women feel confident in their skin. What helps you stay grounded, connected to yourself, and focused on what matters most when life feels especially full?
My family and remembering why I started. When things get busy, I simplify. I come back to my values, trust my intuition, and focus on serving people well. Practicing gratitude everyday is so important to me.
Is there a Woo Woo Working Woman, in your field or beyond, whose passion, purpose, and presence inspire you? What have you learned from her?
I honestly find inspiration in women who quietly build incredible lives with integrity. My mom is one of them. She taught me that consistency, kindness, and showing up everyday matter more than chasing perfection.
Was there a moment that changed how you saw yourself or what you believed was possible for you?
When my mentor, Dr. Fredric Brandt, unexpectedly passed away. It forced me to believe in myself before I felt ready, and it completely changed the trajectory of my life.
When you first moved to Miami, you were working multiple jobs while trying to establish yourself as an aesthetician. Looking back, what did that season teach you about perseverance, resilience, and believing in yourself before the evidence was there?
It taught me that no job is beneath you when you’re building your dream. I wasn’t chasing comfort—I was chasing opportunity. Every long day became part of the foundation.
You spent years working alongside one of the most respected names in dermatology and aesthetics, Dr. Fredric Brandt. How did that experience shape the woman and business owner you would eventually become?
He taught me to never stop learning and to always question what’s possible. Innovation, excellence, and creating an unforgettable client experience became non-negotiables for me.
Building something of your own often requires us to outgrow an older version of ourselves. What did you have to believe about yourself before you were willing to bet on yourself?
That I didn’t need permission. I had to trust that hard work, integrity, and passion could take me further than fear ever could
Was there ever a season in the early days of Flawless when you questioned whether you had made the right decision? What helped you keep going?
Of course. Every entrepreneur has those moments. But every time I saw a client leave happier than when they walked in, I knew I was exactly where I was supposed to be.
Many women feel called toward something bigger but hesitate because they don’t know exactly how it will unfold. What would you tell the woman standing at the edge of her own leap?
You’ll never feel 100% ready. Start anyway. The confidence you’re waiting for usually comes after you take the leap, not before.
You’ve worked with thousands of women over the years, often during moments when they felt insecure, frustrated, or disconnected from themselves. What has that taught you about the relationship between beauty, confidence, and self-worth?
Confidence doesn’t come from perfect skin—it comes from feeling cared for. Skincare can be incredibly empowering, but true confidence always starts from within. I always say, when your skin looks good, your whole day goes well.
If you could give every woman one piece of skincare advice that would genuinely change her skin over time, what would it be?
Be consistent. The best routine is the one you’ll actually stick to. Healthy skin is built over months and years, not overnight.
You have access to virtually every treatment, technology, and trend in the beauty world. What skincare principles do you believe will always matter, regardless of what’s trending?
Protect your skin barrier, wear sunscreen every day, and remember that progressive—not aggressive—always wins in the long run.
Entrepreneurship can be one of the greatest personal development journeys a woman undertakes. What has building Flawless taught you about resilience, identity, and your own capacity?
That I’m capable of far more than I ever imagined. Every challenge stretched me into the next version of myself, and I’m grateful for all of it.
