Reverse Aging Without Going Under The Knife

When the Beauty Broker herself, Melinda Farina, told me that Dr. Jason Pozner was the go-to for everything laser-related in Florida, I didn’t hesitate. I booked a consult on the spot. A board-certified plastic surgeon and founding partner of Sanctuary Plastic Surgery in Boca Raton, Dr. Pozner is one of the most sought-after aesthetic experts in the country. He’s known not only for his surgical precision but also for being at the forefront of noninvasive innovation. With a background in microsurgery and laser development, he blends medical rigor with a true eye for beauty and has trained physicians around the world on how to use advanced technologies safely and effectively. After meeting him, I understood why.

Lasers, microneedling, ultrasound, and radiofrequency have completely changed what’s possible when it comes to skin rejuvenation. But with so many devices and techniques on the market, it’s hard to know what actually works and what’s just hype. Naturally, I came armed with questions. What delivers real results? What’s overhyped? And what should we actually be doing for long-term skin health and radiance?

Below, Dr. Pozner generously shares his honest thoughts on the latest technologies, celeb-approved treatments, and the biggest mistakes people make when navigating the world of noninvasive aesthetics.

 Q & A WITH DR. JASON POZNER

You work with so many different technologies—lasers, radiofrequency, microneedling, ultrasound. Which devices are you most excited about right now, and what kinds of results do they deliver?

I like to think about devices in groupings—each has its strength depending on the concern, whether it's skin tightening, texture, pigment, or deeper rejuvenation. Right now, two devices from Sciton have me particularly excited: one that's a major update to a current favorite (officially launching this September), and another in development called laser coring, which will be a non-surgical alternative to Ellacor. That one's expected in 2026 and could be a game changer.

For someone dealing with specific concerns, which treatments do you recommend as most effective?

Here’s how I usually break it down:

  • Skin tightening: Sofwave is my go-to.

  • Wrinkles and fine lines: Sciton TRL is my favorite resurfacing laser.

  • Sagging or jowls: For more significant laxity, surgery is best. If it’s mild, Sofwave can help.

  • Eye wrinkles or hooding: Surgery is the gold standard for upper lids. For the lower lids, TRL laser works well.

  • Large pores or uneven texture: Halo is excellent.

  • Pigmentation or sun damage: BBL and Moxi are great options.

  • Boosting collagen and glow: It depends on the individual, but I often mix modalities.

  • Under-eye puffiness or dark circles: Usually, we reach for a vascular laser.

With so many treatment options out there, how do you help someone figure out what’s actually right for their skin—and worth the investment?

It all starts with an in-depth consultation and years of experience. Every face is different, and choosing the right approach is part science, part art.

Botox is having a bit of a bad PR moment. Are there any noninvasive treatments that can deliver similar results, without using injectables?

Not really. We still do a ton of neuromodulators in the office—these days, Daxxify is the most requested. Nothing noninvasive gives quite the same effect.

Facelifts in your 40s are trending. Do you think skin-tightening devices can truly delay or even replace surgery—or is that just wishful thinking?

We’re getting closer, but we’re not quite there yet. Devices are improving, and I think the future will bring better non-surgical lifting options.

Do any of these treatments give long-term results, or is it more about consistency and maintenance to keep skin looking its best?

Most of the lasers I use do offer long-term benefits—especially when patients take care of their skin. Ongoing maintenance helps keep results fresh, but the underlying improvements are real.

We’ve all heard the horror stories—burns, discoloration, over-treated skin. What mistakes do you see people making most often, and how can they avoid them?

Experience matters. One of the biggest mistakes is going to a discount medspa using cheap devices and inexperienced providers. That’s where things can go wrong.

What should someone look for in a provider to make sure they’re in safe and experienced hands?

Look for someone with extensive experience and top-tier technology. Not all devices—or providers—are created equal.

If someone’s brand new to noninvasive treatments, what’s a great first step—something that feels approachable but still delivers results?
It really depends on their skin concerns, but two of my favorite starting points are Moxi and BBL Hero. They’re versatile, effective, and generally well-tolerated.

Are there any devices or treatments you think are overhyped—or ones that are often misused in the industry?
Absolutely. Morpheus is the most overhyped device out there, in my opinion. It’s not effective, and I don’t recommend it.

Have you personally seen any impressive celebrity (or high-profile) transformations from noninvasive treatments? What was used—and did it really work?
Yes—Sofwave has become very popular among high-profile clients. I know the Kardashians are fans, and in the right hands, it can deliver noticeable lift and tightening.

If someone could only invest in one treatment a year, what would you recommend for the biggest impact on skin health and appearance?
I’d say Halo or Moxi—or even better, a combination of both. They work beautifully together to improve tone, texture, and overall skin quality.
